With an area stretching only 227 square miles, the Isle of Man is situated in the heart of the British Isles and is only 50 km from both Ireland and the United Kingdom. The Isle of Man is an internally self-governing dependent territory of the British Crown and has a rich and colourful heritage. The island boasts stunning and very diverse scenic beauty and is host to a number of prominent attractions, the most notable being the Isle of Man TT races.
Supported by a strong and stable Government, the Isle of Man is an ideal location for the setting up of e-business and e-gaming infrastructure. In addition to having favourable corporate taxation structures and regulated business infrastructure, the island also has excellent telecommunications and power systems. The Isle of Man is a perfect hosting location to serve the European market or act as a disaster recovery site for both corporations with mission-critical applications and online gaming companies.
Companies entering or expanding into the ever-demanding world of e-business need to know that the systems they install are secure and easily scalable. Of course even the most powerful and fault tolerant of servers are vulnerable if not housed in the appropriate surroundings.
Fortunately, all Continent 8 and Mohawk Internet Technologies data centres are equipped to the highest standards to cater for even the most stringent levels of availability. Situated in a business park on the outskirts of Douglas, adjacent to the main power generation station on the island and high-speed optical fibre networks, the Continent 8 Middle River Facility is ideally situated to serve those customers who require a European hosting presence.
Of course, this facility will be managed and operated by qualified and experienced staff to deliver the quality you have come to expect from Continent 8.

7th March 2007
Committee members,
As an addendum to the planning application, this letter summarises the nature of Continent 8 Technologies PLC's (C8) project as an integral and fundamental part of our enterprise on the island.
The use of the building will be to house computer servers and related internet connectivity infrastructure equipment. In practice this means that customer equipment is co-located within a physically and virtually secure environment and given access to the public internet through telecommunications network systems and given sufficient power to enable the server application.
Our group operates high end data centres with customer equipment needing large amounts of electrical feed to power the application and keep the equipment cool. It is envisaged that we will need circa 200 KW to 1 MW within year one presuming sales projections are met.
Data centres are generally not a human resource intense business and the centre is not a retail outlet for customers to engage with. In general footfall to the building would be limited to staff and suppliers with customers and some visitors on an infrequent basis. As a result ancillary offices will be a minimal component of our design as the primary function of the facility will be co-location of computer equipment.
The Isle of Man government's aggressive growth plans for the e-business sector and the importance of this sector to the Island has been emphasised to us. We are delighted to bring our skills in this area to the Island and to work collaboratively with Government for our mutual gain in the coming years.
Should you wish to seek references on our group, our value proposition for the Island and our reputation internationally please contact:
Mr. Tim Craine Director of E-Business and Space Commerce Iliam Dhone House Circular Road Douglas
C8 is extremely keen to bring our core business offering to the Island but you will appreciate that timing of these projects is commercially critical. We look forward to hearing of your decision as soon as possible.
Kind regards,
Yours faithfully,
David Black Director
