recommend that the planning application be approved
Onchan District Commissioners recommended approval, while Highways Division objected due to inadequate access and increased traffic from the property enlargement.
Key concern: existing access on to the public highway is inadequate
Onchan District Commissioners
SupportThe Commissioners would recommend that the application be APPROVED for planning purposes only.
Highways Division
ObjectionThe application seeks to increase the size of an existing two bedroom property to a four bedroom property. This enlargement will result in an increase in traffic generated from the site and as such the existing access on to the public highway is inadequate to serve the needs of the proposed dwelling.; The applicant has previously been advised to make minor improvements to their access by the removal of boundary features and installation of a traffic mirror.; The Department has not been contacted for the erection of a traffic mirror, and nor has the access been improved to provide stopping sight distance, therefore the Department's objection remains.
