recognise that the proposal entails a significant amount of restoration but on balance have no objections
no objection to the proposed works; building set back from road and screened by trees minimising impact; consistent with other local approvals not following Manx vernacular per Circular 3/91
Multiple consultees responded to application 05/02024/B for alterations and extensions to Southampton Farm, with Braddan Parish Commissioners and DOT Highways objecting on design and highway access grounds, while SPMC&E raised no objection and Andrew Jessopp supported the proposal.
Key concern: no details given of any access, including sightlines, for a proposed road or drive onto the adopted highway
SPMCE
No ObjectionThe Society therefore raises no objection.
Braddan Parish Commissioners
ObjectionThe Commissioners would recommend that there is no material planning reason to object to the principle of the application, but that there are material reasons to object to the detail of the application; The above objection was without prejudice to a further revised design being submitted
DOT Highways
ObjectionThere are no details given of any access, including sightlines, for a proposed road or drive onto the adopted highway, to serve the needs of the development.; In the interests of road safety.
Andrew Jessopp
SupportI have no objection to the proposed works.; The building is set back from the road, and generally screened by trees, so the impact of the proposed changes, when viewed from the road, will not be, in my opinion, such as to warrant refusal.; Considering other approvals in the vicinity for alterations and extensions, which haven't followed the form of 'Manx vernacular', then I see no reason why the design should adhere slavishly to circular 3/91 in this case.
