Maughold Parish Commissioners repeatedly objected to the garage/workshop location in an agricultural field and altering the field boundary, and raised concerns about culvert strengthening; DOT Drainage objected pending drainage details; DOT Highways noted inadequate existing visi…
Key concern: detached garage/workshop intruding into agricultural field by altering original boundary
Maughold Parish Commissioners
ObjectionThe Commissioners oppose any alteration of the original field boundary, and ask that the Planning Committee allow no such action.; They are concerned that no precedent is set for moving field boundaries, especially if fields affected are zoned for other purposes.; Their view is that the garage/workshop must be sited nearer to the house.; Commissioners have strong objections to the nature of the entrance to a field of agricultural use, on a track that, presently, does not exist.
Conditions requested: garage/workshop must be sited nearer to the house; any necessary strengthening of the culvert taken into consideration before the extension building is placed upon it; traditional field boundary should be maintained; other options for placing the garage should be considered
Department of Transport Drainage Division
ObjectionThe Division is not convinced, due to the lack of information submitted, of the proposal for the diversion of a watercourse. As this application stands, the Drainage Division would object on these grounds
Conditions requested: defer decision until applicant provides satisfactory drainage layout
DOT Highways Division
No ObjectionNo adverse traffic impacts. NB: The visibility from the existing driveway is inadequate to serve the needs of the existing traffic.
SPM CoE
Conditional No ObjectionNot so sure about the 2 storey garage block proposed as separate building intruding into the field next door, which is essentially open countryside, when there remains space within the garden/glen.; THIS IS AN IMPORTANT HISTORIC FEATURE, WHICH MUST BE MAINTAINED.
