Refusal Notice 09/00919/B
Town and Country Planning Act 1999
Town and Country (Development Procedure) Order 2005
GCA Architects Carmodil Beg Studio Glen Road Ballaugh
In pursuance of powers granted under the above Act and Order the Department of Local Government and the Environment does hereby REFUSE the following application made on behalf of:
Name: Kennaugh & Skinner Ltd Proposal: Erection of a retail unit with accommodation above (comprising amendments to 08/01266/REM) at: Ballabeg Stores Site Main Road Ballabeg Castletown Isle of Man IM9 4HB
which was considered on 20th July 2009, for the reasons set out below.
Date of Issue: 24th July 2009
Murray House Mount Havelock Douglas
Deputy Secretary to the Planning Committee
Reason(S) For Refusal:
- The introduction of stonework on only the lower half of the front elevation will result in an in appropriate finish to the property which has been designed as a traditional building. The proposed canopy is similarly out of keeping with the traditional character of the property and with the older buildings in the immediate vicinity which are generally stone faced and flat fronted. The omission of the stonework on the rear external fire escape will detract from the attractiveness of the building as originally designed and approved.
This decision was made by the Senior Planning Officer in accordance with the authority delegated to her under Article 3(13) of the Town and Country (Development Procedure) Order 2005.
