Interesting scheme and concept. From an historic point of view it probably represents a much better concept than converting into several dwellings. Applaud it; better than chopping it up and better than letting it rot. SPLENDID building group.
Manx Electricity Authority requests contact for utilities coordination with no objection stated; Lezayre Parish Commissioners unanimously approved; Bleasdale Historic Building Consultant supports the scheme with a query on protecting a leat; Forestry Amenity Lands recommends bat and owl surveys.
Key concern: roosting bats or owls in unused traditional buildings

SupportThis is an interesting scheme and concept. From an historic point of view it probably represents a much better concept than the more commonly found tendency to convert such a structure into several dwellings.; It is certainly a SPLENDID building group and though I have known similar ones elsewhere (Cheshire in particular) it is possibly the best one of this 'courtyard' style in the Isle of Man.; Just one small query though:- There is (or was?) a rather unusual, elevated *leat* here leading to one part of this building range which must have been a watermill.

Conditional No ObjectionThese kinds of unused traditional buildings in the countryside might be used by roosting bats (roosts and bats protected) or owls (birds specially protected). I recommend that information be sought to determine whether this is an issue and the results be taken into account in any planning decision.
