This permission relates to the creation of a car park as shown in drawings Master/01 and 01 (proposed) both received on 23rd June, 2010.
Approval - provides much needed car parking and improved visibility
No objection subject to no surface water to foul sewer
no longer object after discussions, though regret drop-off issue unresolved and note pupil safety to be managed by school
Highways Division and Water & Sewerage Authority Drainage Division both support the application with no objections or conditional no objections; Arbory Parish Commissioners initially objected but later withdrew opposition; a neighbouring resident objected on noise, light, and other grounds.
Key concern: inadequacy in addressing parent drop-off/pick-up parking problems and child safety risks
Department of Infrastructure Highways Division

Water & Sewerage Authority Drainage Division
Conditional No ObjectionNo Objection subject to the following conditions
Conditions requested: There must be NO discharge of surface water (directly or indirectly) from this proposed development to any foul drainage system(s) so as to comply with the requirements of the Isle of Man Water & Sewerage Authority, Drainage Division and the Sewerage Act 1999.; The use of soakaways are subject to Building Control approval and if this approval is not granted, the Drainage Division would not give permission for the discharge of surface water into the existing foul system and an alternative means of disposal would have to be sought.; percolation tests are conducted to support the applicant's proposal, in the event that percolation tests fail, the applicant is required to contact the Drainage Division.; The applicant is requested to supply the Division a copy of any Building Control Application in relation to the surface water discharge from this development.
Arbory Parish Commissioners
Objectionthis additional proposed parking is solely for staff and visitors and therefore does not address the long-standing problem for parents dropping off and picking up children.; The Commissioners share the Planning Officer's concern over the absence of screening along the roadside.
Arbory Parish Commissioners
No Objectionthey therefore no longer oppose the application.; they see some danger for the children at the entrance and inside the proposed new parking area, but they assume that this will be managed by the school.
E.G. Cringle
ObjectionI lodge this objection to the proposed application due to my property neighbouring the proposed development.; The proposed development would be largely for staff parking and only fractionally alleviate the extensive problem that exists.
