General Policy 2
Requires development in zoned areas to respect site/surroundings in siting/layout, not adversely affect landscape/townscape character, provide safe/convenient access without harming road safety/traffic flows, and not prejudice adjoining land. recommend approval subject to condition: existing access to be blocked up
no objections
Public objections from local residents citing road safety hazards due to busy traffic and narrow road, while Highways Division recommends approval with condition to block existing access, and Rushen Parish Commissioners have no objections.
Key concern: additional access on busy A36 road with speeding traffic and narrow section creating safety hazard
Mrs S M Burgess
ObjectionThe road going past the requested new access point is extremely busy and although there is a 30 M.P.H. limit, very few, if any, abide by this.; Longmead already has a safe access point at the front of the property so why is another needed.
Highways Division
Conditional No ObjectionRecommend approval subject to the imposition of the following condition | Existing access to be blocked up
Conditions requested: Existing access to be blocked up
Mrs K M Crawley
ObjectionThe A36 main Ballakillowey road is an extremely busy road frequently used by coaches and wagons and has heavy general traffic daily.; the creation of this ADDITIONAL ACCESS is totally unnecessary and would create a further hazard on this already very dangerous stretch of roadway.
P.M. Burgess
Objectionas there is vehicular access to Longmead and Lynwood Dene from the "Hill Park" footage, this application is for "additional" vehicular access; The laminated site notice which was posted up on the 13th July is still not easily visible to the public.
Rushen Parish Commissioners
No ObjectionNo objections.
