The original application (11/00857/D) for erection of four non-illuminated advertising signs at the Sea Terminal was assessed via written representations with a site visit. The Planning Division supported the proposal, noting high design standards, no highway safety issues, and no harm to the Douglas Promenades Conservation Area zoned for Harbour Related Uses. The inspector concurred, finding the signs would preserve the Conservation Area's character and appearance. Illuminated sailing time signs misused for advertising were noted but excluded from assessment as under enforcement investigation. Permission recommended subject to conditions limiting commencement and drawings.
