The comment stated;
The property lies in the Kirk Michael Conservation Area and is in a very prominent location on Main Road, adjacent to The Arts and Crafts Ebeneezer Hall as designed by J T Boyde and supervised by Jos E Teare following Boyde's untimely death.
It is obvious that some effort has been made with this property in relation to the ground floor windows to get the proportions of the upper and lower panes correct compared with the first floor windows.
We are pleased to see that the existing inappropriate front door is to be replaced. HOWEVER WHAT IS PROPOSED IS TOTALLY THE WRONG TYPE OF DOOR FOR THIS PROPERTY.
It can certainly be a composite door but it should be either a four (solid) panel Victorian door or a six (solid) panel Georgian door.
The time has come to ensure that alterations in Conservation Areas enhance the property and the area. What is proposed does the opposite.
