Environment Policy 35
Policy requires that within Conservation Areas, development must preserve or enhance the character or appearance of the Area and protect special features. Officers assessed the garage door and slate tiles against this, finding the door would not preserve or enhance as it lacked traditional design with glazing panels, and the tiles were too shiny to mimic natural slate. The policy was the core test applied throughout correspondence.
