The Commission has no concerns to raise with the proposals and recommends approval. The Commission thanks the Planning Committee for the opportunity to comment on the above applications. Yours sincerely

25th July 2008
For the attention of the Secretary to the Planning Committee.
Dear Ms Callow
Maughold Parish Commissioners held a meeting to consider planning issues on Thursday 24th July 2008, and would like to submit comment on the following 7 applications:
08/01213/B Tower Farm, Vicinity of Albert Tower, Erection of tree mast and ancillary equipment in cabins; National Grid Wireless.
The Commission notes that this proposed tree mast has much greater visual impact on the residents of Ramsey. They also note that the mast is a relay transmitter solely to serve the Ramsey area. In light of these circumstances communication the Commission has consulted with Ramsey Town Commissioners in regard to their views on the proposals. These views have been taken in to account by the Commission.
The Commission notes the commitment in the application material to remove and relocate the existing broadcasting apparatus from the Albert Tower on to the proposed tree mast.
The Commission also notes it is stated that the equipment cabin will be "set in the ground" (see section 8 of the planning application form). However drawing ref. 205235010205 stamped "received by DLGE on 23 Jun 08" has no indication of how this will be accomplished. Indeed, as indicated on the drawing the cabin stands completely above ground. The Commission strongly requests clarification of this matter. In particular, they request that a condition of any approval must be that any visible aspects of the cabin are completed in traditional materials that are in sympathy with the rural/agricultural surroundings. These matters must be resolved prior to any approval decision being made.
Having taken in to account the comments of Ramsey Town Commissioners, it is the view of Maughold Parish Commissioners that the proposals should be supported; once the above concerns with the visual appearance of the equipment cabin have been resolved.
