The Lead Member Committee for Property and Asset Management assessed the following application at their January 2022 meeting and decided to make the following representations:
The Commissioners opposed these applications for the reason cited below:
21/01507/B Construction of side extension at 25 Oak Road, Peel was opposed because insufficient pathway width remained between the proposed extension and the property boundary to provide adequate access to the garden, waste bin storage and the rear of the property. It should be noted the Commissioners would not oppose a smaller extension which retained adequate footway width of approximately 1 metre to permit suitable access including wheelchair access 21/01475/B Conversion of apartment into two apartments and replacement windows at Harbour Lights, Shore Road, Peel was opposed by the Commissioners because the access proposed uses the existing set of metal exterior stairs which are slippery when wet and are subject to movement when being used.
The Commissioners did not oppose the following applications:
21/01534/B Replacement front door at Granary Cottage, Charles Street, Peel 21/01532/B Construction of sun lounge at Sunny Bank, Peveril Road, Peel 21/01333/B Extension and conversion of garage into self contained annex for residential and tourist use including construction of replacement garage at 1 Mourne View, Peel (Amended drawings)

The Commissioners did not oppose the following application:
21/1537/B Erection of tourist accommodation 1 May to 30 September 2022 at Former Swimming Pool site, Marine Parade, Peel
The Commissioners noted the following factual information had been misinterpreted in relation to this application:
This location is zoned for Tourism in the Peel Area Plan. No proposals have previously been consulted on during the preparation of the forthcoming North and West Area Plan to change this site’s zoning. In the three number public consultation on the Area Plan undertaken up to 10 December 2021 six different sites were proposed for public open space use in Peel. The Commissioners finally had to remove the badly saline corroded exercise equipment in 2018. This equipment was installed in 2011. The Commissioners have prevented the use of one of the corroded old fashioned skate ramps in 2021. Both ramps were programmed for removal in
