Site
The application site Ramsey & District Cottage Hospital, Cumberland Road, Ramsey is a large single storey detached property which is located along the northern side of Cumberland Road.
Land Use Zoning
The property has been zoned under the Ramsey Local Plan Order 1998 as being within an area of Schools and Other Establishments in Large Grounds (cottage hospital); the site is not within Ramsey Conservation Area.
Proposal
The application proposes the creation of a new main entrance with access ramp and installation of a metal hand rail.

We have received no privately written representations objecting to the application.
Assessment / recommendation
The proposal will vastly improve the appearance of the existing entrance whilst providing access for wheel chairs. I therefore consider the proposal will be beneficial to the hospital and to the users of the hospital. For these reasons the proposals would be appropriate in these locations and therefore my recommendation is for an approval.

C 1. The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.
C 2. This approval relates to the submitted documents and drawings SC 975 SK 1 and SC975/P/10-01 all received on 11 September 2007.
N 1. The applicant is advised to consult the Fire Safety Department to discuss the provision of pass doors to facilitate emergency egress in the event of the failure of the revolving door mechanism.
N 2. The Disability Access Office recommends that the Applicant should ensure there is an external door (with an opening of no less than 1000mm wide) in addition to the revolving door for the use of wheelchair users and mothers with prams, and to ensure the ramps have handrails on both sides.
