To whom it may concern
Dear Sir,
Chibbanagh Farm β St Marks Road Please find enclosed my application for the erection of an agricultural shed, at Chibbangah Farm. I currently farm the land at Chibbanagh, which equates to approx.100 acres. Also I rent a further 180 acres of seasonal rented ground.
The purpose of the shed would be for following:
- The housing of cows calving, during the winter months
- The part storage of straw, this would be used for bedding for the cows and the cattle in the existing sheds.
- lambing of the winter flock
Itβs my intention to continue to grow the herd and to expand into a pedigree herd. The shed is required to ensure I maintain a high standard of stock and a high level of animal husbandry, which is a market requirement.
The segregation of the cows during and after calving, is paramount for the safety of the calve. Housing the animals, will increase the survival rate of the calves, as I will be better positioned to oversee the birth, compared to being in the field.
Weather conditions are critical during lambing, as harsh conditions will kill a new born lamb, therefore sheltering the sheep inside will also increase survival rates.
I thank you in advance for giving this matter your attention and look forward to hearing from you in due course.
Yours faithfully,
DG Watterson
