Officer's Report
The Site
The site represents the curtilage of an existing residential property which sits on the eastern side of Fildraw Road. The existing property is a detached stone faced cottage which sits with the gable alongside the road.
Planning Status
The site lies within an area designated on the Isle of Man Planning Scheme (Development Plan) Order 1982 as Low Density Housing in Parkland.
Planning History
No planning applications have been submitted in respect of this site.
The Proposal
Proposed now is the replacement of the existing windows. The existing are mostly timber framed sliding sashes with a six pane pattern in each light. Proposed is their replacement with plastic-framed casement windows with the Georgian pane pattern formed by an internal bar.
Representations
Malew Parish Commissioners indicate that they have no objection to the proposal.
Assessment
The property is not Registered nor within a Conservation Area. Without doubt the correct windows for the property are the timber framed sliding sashes which are presently within the property. However, there is a mixture of property types in the vicinity and the property is not particularly visible from the road due to the roadside bushes which screen the oblique view of the property.
Party Status
The Department of Transport and the local authority are, by virtue of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) Order 2005, paragraph 6 (5) (c) and (d), considered "interested persons" and as such should be afforded party status.
