The Site
The site represents land associated with and Laxey Fire Station which is situated on the lower and eastern side of Mines Road, for the north of Dumbell's Terrace but south of Laxey Wheel. Access to the Fire Station is via a driveway tot he north of the station itself.
Planning Status
The site lies within an area designated on the Laxey and Lonan Area Plan of 2006 as Open Space and of an Area of High Landscape or Coastal Value and Scenic Significance. The site also lies within Laxey's Conservation Area.
Planning History
No planning applications have been submitted in respect of this site.
The Proposal
Proposed here is an extension to the existing building to provide additional toilets. The extension will be on the southern side of the building and finished and designed to complement the existing building.
Assessment
The site is very large and the proposed extension is modest in size and proportion. There will be no adverse impact from the proposed development and this will add useful facilities to the building.
Party Status
The Department of Transport and the local authority are, by virtue of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) Order 2005, paragraph 6 (5) (c) and (d), considered "interested persons" and as such should be afforded party status.

C 1.
The development hereby permitted shall commence before the expiration of four years from the date of this notice.
C 2.
This permission relates to the erection of an extension as shown in drawings reference 205.1.1, -2 and -3 all received on 3rd January, 2007.
C 3.
There must be no discharge of surface water to the main foul sewer.
