Officer's Report
Planning approval is sought for the installation of upvc casement windows to the front and rear elevations of Ferndene, Strang Road, Union Mills. The property is one of a pair of semi detached dwellings, situated in an elevated position to the north of Strang Road.
The property currently benefits from timber frame sliding sash windows to the front and rear and upvc casements to two windows to the rear the application proposes "rosewood" upvc windows. Whilst it is desirable to retain timber frame sliding sash windows, there are varying styles of windows in this area and the property is not located within a Conservation Area. As such, the proposal is considered to be acceptable.
It is considered that Braddan Commissioners who recommended that the application be approved, accord with the requirements of Planning Circular 1/06, and are therefore afforded Interested Party Status.
