Not many small traditional Manx Cottages retain as many feature as this, one of them being it's tiny, sliding-sash windows. We should not concur in their loss and any replacements (in whatever material and softwood would be the best) must be in the form of genuine sliding sashes, not copies which only look OK when shut! The Society OBJECTS.

Way out into the countryside and despite sympathy for the applicant, it is still totally contrary to Policy and would set a ghastly precedent. The Society STRONGLY OBJECTS.

This is a mid house in a 3 storey terrace and apart from the S end 1½ (which have been totally ruined by unsympathetic window replacements) all the other houses in this terrace retain their original sashes.
If they insist on using PVC, then they should be pvc sliding sashes. The Society OBJECTS to the imitations proposed. {{table:292546}} We have need to say "We told you so" rather loudly!
We have always tried to stress the inherent instability of this old river-cliff line and point out the unsuitability of this land for large blocks of flats. One, or at the most, two moderate houses, set forwards, would have been quite enough.
We don't see all this embankment-building, which will inevitably disturb the wildlife and vegetation, as being justified. It will also look awful and un-natural in comparison to the rest of the riverbank as viewed from the Public Open Space opposite.
