Officer's Report
Planning approval is sought for the construction of a timber fence on the boundary of 7 St Patrick’s View, peel. The property, which lies to the north of Ramsey Road, is separated from the main road by a sod bank, which therefore results in the rear of the property not only being relatively open, but also open to trespass. It is proposed to construct a fence which would be sited some 1m back from the roadside level and start of the bank, with the resultant fence being 2m high from roadside level. The siting of the fence in the position indicated would allow for an area of bank to remain adjacent to the grass verge and road, thereby not detracting from the visual amenity of the street scene.
This application has been made in association with the occupiers of No’s. 8 and 9 St Patrick’s View which are all located adjacent to Ramsey Road. The Department of Transport have advised that they have no objection subject to the fence being located in the middle of the existing turf hedge and not the top in order to facilitate the existing visibility splays. These comments are more relevant to Number 9, although as it is proposed to run the fence along the rear of all three properties, the position of the fence in relation to Number 9 obviously relates to Number 7. However, it is considered that the proposed position of the fence in relation to all three properties would not impact adversely
on the current visibility from the junction of St Patrick’s View with Ramsey Road, given the pavement and grass verge that presently exists at this junction.
