Dear Ms. Callow, SPMC&E VIEWS ON APPLICATIONS from WEEKLY LIST 2006/19-- List dated 18/05/06 As sent Date of this response --18/05/06
SHEET 1
Very badly presented application for Planning & Registered Building Consent. One wonders if the Diocesan Architect/Surveyor has been consulted on this? Which louvres are to be replaced and why (& how)? Timber in the new roof will be in direct contact with external walls with no damp proof course above. Will surely rot and such a Detail should not be acceptable on a Registered Building. What is wrong with the existing concrete roof (& what is to become of it and, if removed, how are the walls to be made good?) If it is faulty wouldn't it be simpler to put some more concrete, properly waterproofed, on top of it? The Society STRONGLY OBJECTS to this ill thought out application. Diocesan Surveyors can be a merry lot. It was on an RICS trip to Rotterdam, many years ago, when the Diocesan Surveyor, of all people, was the one who smuggled a copy of Lady Chatterley's Lover back to England where, at that time, it was banned! We all quipped "What WILL the Bishop say?"

Rather vague submission. Boundaries of farm (160 acres) not delineated and proposal involves selling some of it off – which and how much? SALE TO INCLUDE PRESENT FARMHOUSE! Personal circumstances, even financial ones, are not Planning issues and although we may feel very sorry for the applicant, Policy dictates that new houses in the countryside should not be permitted if existing farm dwelling/s have been, or are to be, sold off. The Society VERY STRONGLY OBJECTS in support of Policy and to be fair to all the other who have been refused. NOTE: The alternative suggestion of mobile home/s would similarly need Planning Permission.

Pleasant Manx Cottage in prominent position on approach to Bridge. Windows already non-vernacular. This scheme won't make them any better and if the Planning Authority is minded to refuse in the hope of promoting a better scheme, we will SUPPORT it.
