Officer's Report
The Site
The site represents the curtilage of a cottage which sits on the eastern side of the Malew Street.
Planning Status And Relevant Policies
The site sits within an area of Residential use on both the adopted local plan and the emerging draft plan for Castletown. The site lies outwith Castletown’s Conservation Area. Planning circular 1/98 provides guidance on the replacement of windows and generally requires that new or replacement windows should replicate the style and appearance of the existing windows where the originals are not still in place which is the case here.
Planning History
PA 99/0547 proposed the re-slating of roof and installation of replacement rooflight and was permitted
The Proposal
Proposed here is the replacement of a single light on the ground floor of the front elevation, with a sliding sash window to match the others in this elevation.
Representations
There are no views on the file.
Assessment
The replacement of the window will greatly improve the appearance of the property and will accord with the principles of Planning Circular 1/98.
Party Status
As there are no views on the file, only the dot ht and Castletown Commissioners should be afforded party status as statutory consultees.
