Officer's Report
The site represents a parcel of land to the west of Malew Street, behind number 37, Malew Street and within Castletown's Conservation Area.
Proposed is a number of alterations to the building which lies behind the frontage building but attached thereto. Proposed is the enlargement of an existing window which looks into the rear courtyard, the installation of two new rooflights in the pitch facing inward and a new stable door with steps up to it.
None of this will be seen from the street and in any case is not objectionable.
The application form states that the proposal involves a change of use from outhouse to private art studio although this is not mentioned in the application form. I suspect that this would not require planning permission anyway as this would be an ancillary use of an existing building.
