The site represents the curtilage of Ballalonnna Farm, situated on the coastal side of the Glen Maye - Dalby highway. The farm has been transformed with the conversion of the farm buildings to residential accommodation.
Permission has also been granted for the demolition of the existing farmhouse and its replacement (PA01/1682). Permission has also been sought under PA04/1571 for extensions to the cottage - recommended for approval.
Permission has been granted for the erection of a new agricultural building (PA01/1682). This was to be almost on the footprint of the building to be demolished but amended prior to the initial decision from a site further away. This amendment does not appear to have been sought by the Planning Officer at the time, but was certainly supported by her.
Now proposed is the erection of the building in the location originally proposed. The reason for this is that the building which would have been closest to the new born has been converted to living
accommodation and it is felt that to site an agricultural building so close to this (12m) would be detrimental to the outlook of those living in the converted barn. Effectively this will relocate the new barn 25m to the south of its approved location.
From the photographs on the previous file, it does not appear to me that the new position would result in an adverse visual impact.

I have discussed this with the agent Glen Kinrade. I did originally advise at the time of the previous application that the original siting was preferred. I can understand that given the conversion of the barn, it would be desirable to move the barn. There remains justification for the building because the applicant now owns a number of acres. It is judged that the from the road the barn would be largely hidden but floor levels should be known prior to the commencement of works.
