Officer's Report
The application seeks approval for the erection of a conservatory on the south elevation of a two-storey detached dwelling located approximately 100 metres off the A10 coast road in Bride.
Whilst I do not consider the dwelling to be particularly attractive I would suggest that the proposed conservatory would only serve to further reduce the appearance of the dwelling. It would also be readily visible from the adjacent highway and introduce an unattractive feature. The extent of the proposed conservatory, which covers one entire elevation of the dwelling at ground floor level, is excessive and out of keeping that results in a detrimental impact on the appearance of the dwelling.
I consider that two smaller conservatories either side of a central porch could be acceptable and recommend that the application be refused subject to a suitable without prejudice note.
