Planning Report ### Pa 04/243 #### Site visit? Y ### The Site 10 Queen Street, Peel. It is a small cottage in the Peel Conservation Area. The dwelling has 3 windows and a door on the front elevation. The windows are timber framed, casements with a central hinge, and the door is a plain solid timber framed door with little merit. ### The Proposal Installation of uPVC casement windows and new security door on the front elevation. It is stated that these are to match the windows/doors allowed at the rear of the Commissioner's houses in Queen Street. ### The Planning History PA 02/323 - Replacement casement uPVC windows and door on the rear elevation - approved. ### Views/Comments Commissioners and DoT - No objections ### Assessment The Windows Circular states that the method of opening should be sliding sash whatever the material used. Whilst casement windows were permitted to the rear of the Commissioners' houses, sliding sash were approved to the front and panelled doors. This requirement should be maintained at Number 10. No details have in any case been provided to show the proposed door. ### Recommendation Refuse without prejudice to sliding sash windows and panelled door. Diane Robinson 8th April 2004
