Notes to accompany planning application for; 1 Douglas Street, Peel, Isle of Man, IM5 1BA. Applicant, Mr Mark Bridge.

The application is for change of use for the ground floor of the above mentioned property, from a confectionery outlet/shop to a sandwich bar, serving snacks to eat in or take away.

There has been discussion between the applicant and Fire Officer John Kelly in early September 2009 to discuss fire safety within the building. Mr Kelly had concerns regarding the inadequate fire safety and escape route from the upper floors. There is no intention at this time to let the upper floors until an agreement can be reached with the fire Officer to provide an adequate fire escape route from the upper floors to a safe fire assembly point to the exterior of the building.
