The site represents the curtilage of the former Santon Primary School, located on the north western side of the A5 Castletown Road, just to the north east of the Ballachrink (B26) highway leading to the Old Castletown Road (A25).
The building is a mixture of traditional architecture and more modern additions but is generally a detached building sitting in grassed grounds with car parking, surrounded by mature hedging.
The site lies within an area designated on the Isle of Man Planning Scheme (Development Plan) Order 1982 as Primary School.

THE PROPOSAL Now proposed is the replacement of a range of existing plastic doors with similarly styled but timber doors.
REPRESENTATIONS There have been no representations received in respect of this application.
ASSESSMENT The proposed works will not be publicly visible but will significantly enhance the character and appearance of the property by reverting to a more traditional and original material. As such, the application is considered acceptable.
PARTY STATUS The Department of Transport and the local authority are, by virtue of the Town and Country Planning (Development Procedure) Order 2005, paragraph 6 (5) (c) and (d), considered "interested persons" and as such should be afforded party status.
