Refusal Decision Notice
Town and Country Planning Act 1999
Town and Country (Development Procedure) Order 2005
GCA Architects Carmodil Beg Studio Glen Road Ballaugh
In pursuance of powers granted under the above Act and Order the Department of Infrastructure does hereby REFUSE the following application made on behalf of:
Name: Mr Leslie & Mrs Margo Martin Proposal: Erection of a single storey building to provide tourist accommodation (Retrospective)
at: Outbuilding West Craig Farm St Judes Road West Craig Ramsey Isle Of Man
which was considered on 26th January 2011, for the reasons set out below. Date of Issue: 28th January 2011 Murray House Mount Havelock Douglas
Reason(S) For Refusal:
- The application site is not zoned for development. Therefore the proposal is contrary to both adopted general planning policy within the Isle of Man Strategic Plan and The Isle of Man Development Plan, which seek to restrict such development within the countryside. Approval of the planning application which is tantamount to the creation of a new residential dwelling would set an undesirable precedent for further such inappropriate development in the countryside. Accordingly it is recommended that the application be refused.
This decision was made by the Senior Planning Officer in accordance with the authority delegated to her under Article 3(13) of the Town and Country (Development Procedure) Order 2005.
