After School Club Hours Justification
Points For Consideration
Having recently converted the former Garage into and After School Club at our Bonwick Family Centre, it became obvious that the constraints of the previous successful planning application were unfortunate.
The permitted hours of use of 3.30 pm to 6.15 pm Monday-Friday and were fine for the original concept. However the building offers the users of the adjacent building an opportunity to 'spread out a bit', a different environment and the whole site a little flexibility.
Our Organisation genuinely wishes to maximise the potential of the After School Club Unit by gaining permission for its occasional use throughout the periods applied for in the attached application.
We would point out that the comments of the Planning Department have been taken on board and hopefully the requested hours of use are in keeping with the setting. They would not be detrimental to the quality of life of our neighbours. The footfall of the Buildings would not change.
We would like to operate the building occasionally during the periods of between 8.00am and 6.15pm Monday to Friday. This would allow us to vary the settings for Nursery Activities and to hold occasional training sessions, relevant to our service delivery. We had thought of some occasional weekend use in our original meetings but this will not be necessary.

Hi Hazel,
I met with Steven Stanley today at Planning, with my colleague Rachel Staley. We met to discuss a proposed application to amend the permitted opening hours of our After School Club Unit at Bonwick House.
It has now become an expressed wish of the Management and Staff to utilise the building during the daytime and possibly some weekends. The occupancy of the building wouldn't change from its current level. We would just be in a better position to offer a more varied and interesting level of activities to our Young People by making use of the additional available space.
We would propose that availability of the unit for occupancy would be along the lines of the following revised opening times. Monday to Friday 8.00am-6.15pm. Saturday 12.00pm-6.00pm. Sunday 12.00pm-4.00pm.
The former opening times being only 3.30pm-6.15pm Monday to Friday granted on Application No.12/0024/B. The unit is a great asset to the site and we would really like to be in a position to utilise it more. Although the hours we would request permissions for would not guarantee occupancy. The activities undertaken would enhance the activities already taking place.
I would welcome your thoughts on our proposal, answering any questions or queries you may have and capturing your input in our application.
Kindest regards,
Chris Martin Facilities Manager The Children's Centre 92 Woodbourne Road Douglas IM2 3AS
