General Policy 2
Requires development to respect local character and streetscene (b), avoid unacceptable visual impact (c), and consider amenity (h). Committee found poles' siting, height, size, scale fail these tests in bungalow streetscene despite officer view that limited harm acceptable given precedents and common use of poles.
Infrastructure Policy 3
Balances need for communications infrastructure against environmental impacts. Officer weighed strong strategic need for fibre broadband (National Broadband Plan) as outweighing visual harm; Committee prioritised environmental impact.
Strategic Policy 2 - Priority for new development to identified towns and villages
Site in Peel service centre residential area supports principle of development.
no significant negative impact upon highway safety, network functionality and/or parking as at least 1.2m of footway width is retained at each pole location

ObjectionI am writing to formally object to the above-referenced planning application; A 9ft pole directly opposite will be unsightly and will also cast shadows across the property like a massive sundial; The pole will reduce the walking area on the pavement, causing pedestrians to walk more onto the road; I ask the planning department to reject this application
