Driveway Relocation Supporting Statement

Supporting Evidence for the Creation of Access and Relocation of Driveway at 31 Eskdale Road, Onchan:
We feel that the relocation of the driveway would provide a safer entrance and exit to our property due to the fact that the proposed entrance would be in view of the oncoming traffic, it would also create a turning area on the drive so a forward entrance and exit is possible.
The current location of the driveway seriously endangers the vehicle/driver when entering/exiting the property as when pulling out the cars come around the corner on the same side of the road; we had evidence of this when a near miss happened the other day when this exact problem happened to my partner.
The proposed entrance would be around the corner so the traffic on the near side of the road can see that the driveway is being used and the vehicles coming around the corner are on the other side of the road.
We feel that this would reduce the chance of an accident happening and would also give the users piece of mind when using the drive.
We would be closing up the existing driveway entrance with a masonry wall to match in with the existing perimeter wall and also knock down from the front pavement entrance to the neighbours wall and rebuilding from that point to the start of the new driveway, again this will be done in masonry to match in with the existing perimeter wall.
We would require the installation of dropped curbs and the possibility of reinforced pavement where the vehicles will be crossing the public footpath.
We have had a verbal confirmation from DEFA (Andrew Igoea) that the tree that we want to be removed can be removed without a license and that they are okay for it to be taken out.
We have also spoken with Dol Highways and they agree that the relocation of the driveway would provide a safer entrance/exit than the existing method.
