The site is a square shaped piece of land on a corner of the main road as it passes through Ballabeg opposite the junction to the B42. The site accommodates a ground floor retail unit and a first floor apartment.
Planning History
Planning permission was approval in 2008 for the demolition of the old shop and replaced with a ground floor retail unit with residential accommodation at first floor level. The building was constructed and completed in 2010. Since building completion the retail unit and the accommodation over has lay empty.
Design Proposal
The proposal is to convert the ground floor retail unit into tourist accommodation and to change the use of the first floor apartment into tourist accommodation with alterations to the fenestration to the front and rear elevations.
Access
Access to the property will be unaffected.
Parking
Two off-street parking spaces have been provided to the front of the building. (This area was designated as parking for the retail unit) The garage will be shared by the two units, and will provide space for alternative means of transport e.g. Bicycles and motor bikes but not for car parking. There is additional parking within the nearby public car park shown on the site plan.
