Further to the appeal by Manx Telecom, we would comment as follows: Our concern in respect of this appeal, is the fact that it is proposed that a cable from the 9m Pole situated at Fresh Breezes is attached to our gable end and/or front of our property (should we wish to install fibre at our property) and to the front of the properties number 10-18 & Fresh Breezes, Cronk Reayrt. Consideration has not been given to the high winds we are now encountering, the potential damage that could be caused to our property and that of the other properties included in this Appeal. Visually wise, it will not be a pleasant sight, wires everywhere and we cannot understand how wires attached to every property that wishes to utilise fibre via Manx Telecom can be considered not to be visually intrusive. We certainly do not wish to open our curtains to our front bedrooms to see wires across both windows - that will be visually abhorrent. The 9m pole is colossal given that our property and the properties included in this appeal (from the plans provided to us in 2025) are two storey properties and the 9m poles are much higher in height and will be overbearing. Comparison has been made in respect of the Ballamillaghyn Estate. We feel this is irrelevant to this case, as the properties are that of bungalows and dormer bungalows and not two storey properties. We understand the concept with regard to telegraph poles playing an important role in delivering the service that Manx Telecom are proposing. If fibre was not being offered or available, Manx Telecom would still have to have disruptive roadworks to repair the copper that is installed underground, so as far as we are concerned this point is irrelevant. Finally, even if poles are widely used within the Island, this is a small estate and the poles and wires as stated above will be visually abhorrent.
