1.1 The application site is the residential curtilage of 7 Mull View, an existing single storey dwelling with accommodation in the roof located at the end of a small cul-de-sac of 12 similar sized dwellings on the eastern side of the main road running through Kirk Michael. - 1.2 The existing property has a front elevation facing west towards the main road. There is a small single storey projection on the front elevation with a ridge height of 4.3m, an existing single garage attached to the side elevation. At the rear the dwelling faces over an open field and towards Druidale and on the rear elevation is an existing conservatory. - 1.3 The ridge height for the main house is approx. 5.5m.

6.1 The dwelling is not of any particular architectural interest to warrant its protection. The proposals would not represent an unacceptable level of development and are not expected to harm the appearance of the existing dwelling or the surrounding residential cul-de-sac. - 6.2 The raising of the roof is to be the most notable change from within the streetscene, although the sloping and stepped nature of the land and the dwellings is likely to result in the 500mm increase having a negligible impact on the general character of the area. - 6.3 The installation of the rear dormer is expected to bring about the biggest change to the dwelling.
